> i have read this, but my computers are working since 20.7.2004 > > and the results and the credits are 0 !!! > Vienna_boinc @ AUSTRIA To get credits, your claimed credits must be compared to the claimed credits of 2 other PC's. As long there are no 2 other claimed credits for the same WU, credits cannot be granted. There is also a deadline of reporting of 14 days for each WU. In normal condition, credits are awarded between some 5 to 10 days, depending on the speed of processing of the 2 other PC's as well as on the time of reporting the results for it, but it can take up to 14 days at maximum in normal conditions. To have some more explanation about credits calculation you can have a look here. Please use this board only for Life in the universe radio SETI and SETI@home's search for ET. As it was already written around here on forum (better is read beforu you write), validator is stopped. When it will be started then credit will be granted. All uploads are recorded. > seems that i have the same problem - now its the 6th of august and i > work for boinc since 24.jul but i still have no credits > WHY?? > Try WAP user info http://slavko.sk/wap/seti |

I think it's time to un-install Boing. I don't think it's fair to waste my electricity and wear and tear on my workstation for zero credits. I think Seti really dropped the ball on this one. I've been a Seti participant since 1999 and have no intention of continuing for zero credits. This is proving to be a waste of my resources. |

@Douglas, Your not wasting credits by crunching and uploading at the moment. The comptuers they call "validators" which do just that (validate the work units and hand out credits) are currently not doing their normal job (they are probably doing some other vital task like keeping work units going out, or uploading of results). What this in effect means is EVERYONE whilst doing work, just isnt seeing their tally go up. As soon as the validators are turned back on, there will be a HUGE increase in everyones credits, effectively currently a 5 day total in one day. I would keep crunching... every work unit now is just more credit when the validators are turned back into validating. --- Teamless? So what your saying is that you are doing it for glory and not for science!! So even though the units you process may find a signal, because you don't get any acknowledgment for the number of units you have done then you won't contribute. |

We are not doing it for the glory, but the credits system lets us know that our work is helping towards this project, as people are not getting credits how do we know the results we upload are being used and going towards the project? We need to see some movement on getting credits or more people will become reserved about taking part in this project! |

thats just the point - the credit systems helps to see that you are doing something. if you build a house blind you wont see something - and thats boring and anoying. so that when i compute something i will see that its being counted and use. |

I have been running classic Seti for a number of years. I am doing this for the science. Credits will be allocated later. While none of my past units have indicated a signal, that is not going to stop me from trying. I would not care if a new user on their first try got a confirmed signal. Participating is enough |

Maybe this has already been answered and I am not finding the thread, but will my total Seti@home returns be converted over to BOINC at some point? The number I am seeing now is almost 3k less then what I currently have. Thanks, James |
