5.2.14

Where did you get 5.2.14? I just now looked at the download page and they have 5.2.13 there (which I'm already running).

5.2.13 is the General Distribution version. .14 is the current development version.

Mac OS-X firewall - 2 computers
PC-cillan Internet Security firewall - 2 computers
V-Com System Suite 6 firewall - 1 computer.

All have the same issue that they can't upload to SETI, except once in a great when one or two units will succeed (maybe 2 or 3 a day will upload). Don't think it is a firewall problem. Most likely the SETI servers. Don't have any problems with any other BOINC projects.

These are the messages I get. Three different messages with three different work units all in about the space of three minutes. These three were all from one of the Macs.

Message 208609 - Posted: 10 Dec 2005, 1:42:33 UTC

I've got BOINC running on several different machines. Each and every one is having problems uploading. I have a total of 30 files on all machines which won't upload. I do not use a firewall, only a router, which has the firewall turned off. My office machines don't have anything. The classic commandline client works fine, but BOINC doesn't.

Could it be a problem with a port being closed?

If I can't get it fixed, I will be removing BOINC, and dumping the project.

If you'd checked the front page or any of the posts in the forums you'd see that there is a problem at Berkley & it's taking them a while to resolve it.
People can still get work, but reporting results is pretty much impossible at present.

I'd like to know how the people are getting the work. I've only gotten 1 or maybe 2 new WU over the past 5 days. I generally crank out a WU every 8 hours.

In dribs & drabs like yourself.
But now no one will be getting any Seti work till the downloads are re-enabled.

I know I say this a lot - but BOINC is not SETI and SETI is not BOINC. BOINC is not idle, or having any problems at all that I'm aware of. I've got plenty of work running, from several different projects. Only SETI is having problems. I've suspended SETI until they solve it - no big deal.

PC-Cillin internet security 2005. No problems whatsoever.

I hope you'll excuse me for clarifying your reply..!

*From* the "Front page" of SETI@home,
click on any link to the Tech News page,
and read the most recent posts (all of December so far, especially).

Hope this helps!

PC-Cillin internet security 2005. No problems whatsoever.

Linux operating system, hence no anti-virus and no "Internet Security". :-P

No viruses, trojans, spyware or other mal-ware either.

All works very well!

Cheers,

I have 5.2.13(Optimized client) and I mostly get 500(Repeated attempts at uploading), then I/O(uploads of files sometimes) and then 106(Scheduler), I have the XP sp2 firewall and a Linksys BEFSR41 router v3(stealthed ports), I can upload, But not upload reports(8 so far) and downloads I think I can do, I just have a good 2-4 days buffer built up. When I optimized 4.4.5 to 4.7.2, It was still less than what I have now by about 2000 or so per unit crunched.

Hey, Joker,
Thanks for the reply, as now I know what a 500 err is. ;)

.. but I'm at odds to figure why you hadn't taken a few seconds to trim the quoteblock, as my post was rather long..! *grin*

I have the same thing, red, red, red, it is not a firewall, as long as you let BOINC use all ports @ anytime. What firewall are you using? & it better not be M.S. I have 2 firewalls up & I got credits up to 5 days ago, I have a back log of 12 & have not benable to download any work for 2 1/2 days now. My Einstein@home is working just fine. & somereason it say my computer name is SQPR when it is SPQR??? oh well :)
Oh, “meltdown”. It’s one of those annoying buzzwords. We prefer to call it an “unrequested fission surplus”.

RePhlexx, see the Wiki here it appears the editors of the wiki would like a copy of your logs so they can add to thie issue.

Cheers mmciastro for assistance.

When you say old files, do you means completed work or old as a file extension?.

Also, all txt files in root of boinc directory?.

stderrdae.txt or stdoutae.txt for example?

Cheers
RePhLeXX.

Also, does this mean my client is barfed?. Do i need to uninstall reinstall?

yes, anything with a .txt and .old

NOPE, your client is fine, it just timed out and created an error, Paul doesn't have one to look through and finish that page of the wiki.

Just keep everything on and running
