I managed to install Boinc the other day, and to process 2 units so far, but for the last 4 days or so it can't seem to get any work units (even when the server is up and supposedly has units), and now it's decided it wants to update the seti software it's using, but can't seem to get that either. What's going on?! These are the kind of messages that keep coming up: SETI@home - 2004-07-27 01:45:01 - Started download of 13ja04aa.11634.33041.342332.104 --- - 2004-07-27 01:45:06 - HTTP_OP_SET::poll(): can't open output file projectssetiathome.berkeley.edu13ja04aa.11634.33041.342332.104 SETI@home - 2004-07-27 01:45:06 - Temporarily failed download of 13ja04aa.11634.33041.342332.104 SETI@home - 2004-07-27 01:45:06 - Backing off 5 minutes and 30 seconds on transfer of file 13ja04aa.11634.33041.342332.104 SETI@home - 2004-07-27 01:47:26 - Started download of setiathome_3.08_windows_intelx86.exe --- - 2004-07-27 01:47:32 - HTTP_OP_SET::poll(): can't open output file projectssetiathome.berkeley.edusetiathome_3.08_windows_intelx86.exe SETI@home - 2004-07-27 01:47:32 - Temporarily failed download of setiathome_3.08_windows_intelx86.exe Cheers, Si |

It sounds like either a communications or access permission problem. Check your firewall/proxy settings just in case. I think its a local file access problem though. Are you running with the same user as installed BOINC? You may have to allow sharing for the directory BOINC is installed in. John Keck BOINCing since 2002/12/08 |

Also, have tried disabling my firewall (not recommended, but just to test whether it was causing the problem), and it was still not working, and giving the same errors. Si |
