My seti@home is waiting for new work. Every hour or so it tries to get work but the server says "No work Available" This has been going on for several days. What gives?

Two things you can do - be patient and wait or click on update before the hour is up. I had problems like that too but since I still had WUs I didn't care that much. When Boinc was working on the last unit I got nervous and clicked on update without letting him wait. And I got my units pretty quick, in two big chunks. In short - if boinc tells you that there is no work available you might just not have gotton through yet...

Stand in line and wait patiently like the rest of us... Sooner or later, you will luck out and get work units.

Problem is that there isn't enough work to go around, and some people have insanely large caches... Me, ive managed to do this much (> 7323 since launch) on three wimpy computers with a cache of 1 to 2 days... just gotta have some patience and a bit of luck. And yes... i've had some stretches of a few days with 'no work' on any of my 3 computers too... It happens.

I'm Running the old and the new SETI parallel. If there is work for BOINC, I run BOINC and if there is no work, the "old" SETI jumps in and uses the power.
On the Dual G5 I run two boinc and two "old" tasks parallel so the two processors are shared over the projects 50:50:50:50. if one project runs out of work they automatically switch to 66:66:66 or even 100:100 ;)

Finite work supply
Each work unit is now processed a limited number of times (typically three). When we have no work for your computer, you'll get a 'no work available' message. We encourage you to participate in other BOINC-based projects; then, when SETI@home has no work, your computer can stay busy doing other scientific research.

Finite Work Supply

Bah!!! I am in it for the money.

You can expect more work immediately, but... you'll get it when it's ready!
