I reckon we'll soon be topping the 10k "whinge/whine about the current problems" posts .... for anybody thinking about adding to the count, here's a couple of gifts:

What I don't understand is why everyone is so hyped about how many workunits they have credit for. It's not like you wore out any graphite from your pencil. Your computer is doing all the work. All you've done is taken a couple of minutes and downloaded a small program.

I just don't get it. How many people have told that you care about them during the time that your computer was crunching 1s and 0s? That's a far more important way to prepare for finding what SETI is looking for.

But it would be nice if I COULD UPLOAD THESE WORKUNITS I HAVE SO I CAN GET MY CREDIT FOR FINDING ET!!!!!

Well, when you create a team effort ant unusual expense to build as well as operate, it's more of a form of joy, not hype. Nobody gets anything back except the feeling they are contributing. In doing so friends are made and friendships developed that would have never been. Out little team is formed of members from Canada and the US as part of a greater team based on a hardware website. Work units are a measure of hardware efficience and profeciency.
No, no graphite is spent, but hours are spent earning the money to fund the work.

Hopefully that explains it??

Was aiming for 10k right before the server problems. Very close though 9612 with an average credit of 375. Not to bad for just starting less than 30 days ago. Should hit over 10k when things start uploading again, have a lot of completed WU's to get in. Once all the uploads are in, going to change over to one of the modified clients and see how much that helps on the crunching.

Thanks Dan

Was truely shooting for 20k before the end of December, even added more machines to help multiple things. Hope they get this bugger worked out before to long. Have run out of WU's to proccess, so signed up for another project and added it to a couple machines. Might as well keep a few of them working.

Recent milestones:

PrimeGrid: 5K
uFLuids: 1K
Predictor: 60K
One SETI Beta returned!

Rolling up on:
SETI: 250K
CPDN: 230K
WCG: 1K
and 600K BOINC total.

I made the other rolling up on and I know the SETI are just in escrow ATM.

Just a gentle reminder.... See #8 below....

SETI/BOINC MILESTONE THREAD GUIDELINES:

    01. You must be a current, active participant in the science of this project to post milestone messages.
    02. This thread is for announcements of milestones for any BOINC project.
    03. This thread will allow helping new users only if related to SETI/BOINC.
    04. This thread will not allow milestones not related to SETI/BOINC or other BOINC projects.
    05. This thread will not allow flaming any other users. [See this thread.]
    06. This thread will not allow minus rating, plus rating is fine.
    07. This thread will not allow any profanity.
    08. This thread will not allow 'stretching': no imbedded graphics/pics and while quoting a post with a very long URL in it, fix it if you know BBCode, otherwise delete it or place spaces in it to break it up so it will wrap properly. Another option is to use this site to create a new link. If you must include a graphic/pic in your post, create a link to it, no thumbnails.

HINTS FOR DIALUP USERS:

You can update your preferences in your account. Edit your "Forum preferences":

    01. Set "Show images as links". This will also create a link for images in signatures, but will not hide avatars.
    02. Set "Hide avatar images". All you will see is the username and stats.
    03. Set "Hide signatures". Some signatures have useful information, links to related sites and such and witty quotes. If you set #1 above, you will still see the information, but any images would be loaded as a link. If you set this, there will be no signatures displayed.

Happy BOINCing.... (-:< >:-)
