I've been running boinc for a few weeks now without difficulty. Yesterday, that changed. I came home from work to find boinc unresponsive, I had to force it to quit. When I tried to restart it, it was unresponsive from the beginning... it just wont start. It opens the main window and then I get the spinning colorwheel. The only thing that I see in the window is a mushroom cloud and the word 'disconnected'. I'm running Seti, Climateprediction and rosetta. I have an Imac G5 with 1 gig of RAM, 2 GHz and OS 10.4.3. I am a not a computer expert by any means, so if anybody has a solution for me, please respond as if you were telling your grandmother how to fix the problem. Thanks in advance |

As a mac user, the first thing I would do is toss my BOINC Manager preference file and see what happens. Close BOINC Manager... Delete ~/Library/Preferences/BOINC Manager Preferences... Restart BOINC Manager... If that doesn't work, I would reinstall BOINC Manager. Make sure you read the read me file as it informs you of where to find and how to remove the BOINC package receipt file. A necessary step for a successful reinstall. Good Luck |

Success! I had to reinstall and restart, but it worked. Thanks! As a mac user, the first thing I would do is toss my BOINC Manager preference file and see what happens. |
