2005-11-19 05:51:21 [SETI@home] Project is down
2005-11-19 05:51:21 [SETI@home] Project is down

I shut down my clasic seti@home and fired up boinc which I had working a while back. I have not changed anything but the messages above are all I have received for the last 4 days. The web site status pages say everything is up, but my boinc software, as you can see says no.
What is the scoop.

EEK, don't know. I can contact the scheduler through the Berkeley campus network:

11/19/2005 7:20:26 AM||request_reschedule_cpus: project op
11/19/2005 7:20:31 AM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi
11/19/2005 7:20:31 AM|SETI@home|Reason: Requested by user
11/19/2005 7:20:31 AM|SETI@home|Note: not requesting new work or reporting results
11/19/2005 7:20:36 AM|SETI@home|Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded

I don't have any work to UL or DL so I can't tell if I can get through the Cogent line to the UL/DL server.

The Server status Page froze up about 9PM eastern last nite.

Anyone else have any insight?

You generally wouldn't get the "project is down" response unless it came right from Berkeley.

What version of the boinc manager are you using? 4.XX or 5.2.x?

[edit] I see you're a linux user, so my knowledge is limited.

I suspect that the server did not like my version of boinc. I installed the latest on and it seems to be working ok. Did things change that much?

I was thinking you had an old version. if it was pre 4.19 it spurred many download errors, so many boinc introduced a block on previous versions, so I guess to answer you're question I'd have to know which version you were trying to use. Anyway, glad you're OK.

welcome back]

If you've been gone that long, you probably don't know about "optimized applications" and "optimized Core Clients (boinc). look around at the threads with the words Optimized and Linux. it should increase your productivity by a factor of 2

Thanks for the help. It is crunching along at the moment. Under "projects" is an account manager. I am putting in the correct email address and password but I keeps telling me that it "failed to attach to account manager". I'll have to keep working on this and I'll check out the optimized applications.

I havent tried that account manager, but it seems you'd need to go to "your acount" and set up the password there first. not sure.

I don't believe that feature has been activated yet. I can't attach either, and I know I have my passwords set up.
