I'm running Windows XP Pro and I use Zone Alarm and a cable modem. I've set Zone Alarm to lock the internet after 15 minutes of non-use. Zone Alarm Auto-lock is set to allow Pass-Lock Programs to access the internet. I have set boinc_gui.exe to be a Pass-Lock Program with full allowed settings. However, when I come back to my computer after its been crunching all night, I find that the internet is locked (as expected) but BOINC can not connect. I have to manually turn off the internet lock and tell BOINC to connect and everything uploads/downloads properly.
Any help out there?

I am running XP Pro SP1, ZoneAlarm v 5.0.59.043 and have cable modem also.
I tried having communication with Setiathome using "Update" while ZoneAlarm was locked and boinc_gui on Pass Lock. The GUI could connect to the server without any problem.

Did you allow boinc_gui to act as a server as well in the trusted zone as for Internet? This is how I configured it.

Greetings from Belgium.

I've never had any issues by blocking BOINC to act as a server. (ZA Pro, same version as Thierry)

>Go to the "id lock" tab and click on the "trusted sites" tab. If it's not there, add "setiathome.berkeley.edu" to the site column. Make sure you have a "green" check mark in the "assess" and "lock" columns.

>Setting ZA to let BOINC act as a server does not help. I tried that already. I've now added "setiathome.berkeley.edu" to the trusted sites list and I already have green check marks in "access" and "pass-lock" columns.

I will let you know if it works.
