How do you read the info coming in from space?? Like the graphics, how do you interpret on what your seeing??

Basically you are looking for repeating patterns in the graph. The problem is that the part you see is only a small portion of the full size, so the pattern could be long enough that you would not even know it is there. Each tape is broken down into many workunits.
Here are some stats from the "server status" page:
"Note: Each tape contains approximately 33000 blocks (1049600 bytes in size representing 1.7 seconds of telescope data). The splitter reads about 48 blocks at a time and converts them into 256 workunits, which eventually get transitioned into 1024 results to send to our clients. "
