Hey Slapyo, could you delete two entries of mine? I didn't think it was working, then I went to look at the page and saw three identical entries from me. Sorry about that... :(

i've added in a list of processors now so you don't have to type it in, just select it from the list. if yours is not listed, then goto the contact page and send me an email with the processor you would like added.

Hmm.. that list of processors is nice, but it doesn't let you specify if they are overclocked. My Athlon XP 2500+ is running at 1.93 GHz with a 350 MHz FSB.

What's there to figure out? Column (X): CPU, Column (X+1): MHz. Problem solved.

And how do we submit our marks? Nothing shows up in my (standards-compliant) Mozilla Firebird 0.9 browser...please don't tell me you used some gay IE only code that doesn't show up in real browsers! I could rant on that for days ;).

Works fine in my full copy of Mozilla. Look above the title graphic. You probably just missed it, unless your standards complient browser doesn't understand tables and hyperlinks. :P

Works in my "jscript disabled/activeX disabled/fonts/colors/styles/everything you can think of disabled" IE so chances are the server maybe flipped, try a hard refresh ;)

ok i wanna submit my benchies but a silly question,

where can i find my HOST ID ?
Is it the same as the account ID ?

I've done 2 posts and on the bottom of each post it displays
another number, so that's why i ask this ;-)

Regards
Master Dave ;-)

HAHA Thank god you didn't use IE-specific code and I was just too damn drunx0rd to see the "Add Host" link up top lol. Man....great idea on the site, too and thank for doing it. I used to go to Spec.org to look up benchmarks, then hit my suppliers for costs to determine the best bang for the buck system for my clients. I'd kinda like to see memory type/speed taken into consideration, as well as L2/L3 cache for the processors that have differing values in the same family (like Xeon & Alphas) but too many columns will make for an unpleasant looking site.

sheesh... /me is a bonehead for missing the links above the graphic. Thanks for pointing out the obvious...I certainly needed it this time :)

ror: I was blind...user error. Kudos for disabling all that junk in IE but you're still vulnerable to at least 20 publicly released exploits that are as of yet unpatched...and some are starting to get popular. I've cleaned up about a dozen machines this past week alone getting snuffed with spyware taking advantage of the unpatched IE holes (most common: one that can execute code based on the local computer zone even if it's a web page on the internet). I don't use IE, and I don't know what side-effects there may be if I set the local and trusted zone settings to match my internet settings, but that'd be one thing I'd try to do asap if I actually used IE. (easy enough to undo if it screws stuff up like making help files inaccessable...although with it undone, you're vulnerable). Of course it's your computer, and you'll use it the way you want...I just wanted to relay the info in case you might not be quite as safe as settings would make you think you are. Take a look at your Toos/Internet Options/(Security tab)/"Local Intranet" settings....that's what a malicious site could run as. If you have that locked down too then I'm obviously preaching to the chior so I'll just STFU :)

Hey Slappy...what makes one not be able to post AlphaEV67 class marks for a K6-100? Looks like some peeps already did that with Celery's outbenchmarking Xeons MHz for MHz. I assume you have some bounds checking....but what's to keep people from fudging up a tad?

Yeah, that's more of a "family" of vulnerabilities since the way it's actually acheieved ranges from exlpoiting the "media" explorer bar to pasting dodgy "fake" jpgs etc.

But I would use firefox except that it doesn't do the one thing I like that IE does and no other does, have those security zones. I want to be able to globally disable stuff like jscript and flash, but that causes some sites I need (such as banking) to not work, so I need to be able to differentiate with a list the sites I want to "trust".

Firefox can easily globally disable jscript but not in a way I can 'transparently' allow other sites to use it. (I'd have to toggle it on/off every time I visited).

When firefox has this I shall go back to firefox (I've used it for several months before and really liked it, especially the ability to open new windows maximised (which IE can't do at ALL (before anyone says otherwise, I mean properly maximised not dragged to cover most the screen)) and other features).

I'm not one to worry about security, but 99% of exploits actually are put into motion via jscript (or other activeX), being used to open your explorer bar or whatever and the remaining few I've never known to affect me.

===

Back on topic, is there any way this site could automatically "harvest" the info it needs from the SETI stats pages after we tell them our HOST ID. (effectively giving them permission), or would that be too hard/need to much "other end" power (which I'm guessing a simple web-host can't do?)

I find it interesting that my AMD 64 3000 on Linux benchmarks out at 1076/2474. I haven't tried it on windows to see if there is any difference. It does do a wu in between 2hrs and 2:45hrs.

Master Dave - the Host ID is the same as the Computer ID, so you have a different one for each computer - in Your Account, go to View Computers to see them. You don't have any WUs so technically you aren't "hosting" anything yet, but once you get some you can look at your results & see which other hosts they were sent to.

The numbers at the bottom of the posts are just, uh, post numbers, message ID numbers, not related to your account. (That was helpful.) Oh, and don't give anyone your account ID :)
