I know I posted this before but when I upgraded the BOINC client, it overwrote that line you put in the properties of boinc to make it return completed WUs NOW.

Can someone please tell me, again, what that line is? Thanks!

Greg.

--return_results_immediately is probably what you're looking for... :-)

Thanks. I didn't know that that option was already implemented. Just wondering though: will this put more strain on the schedulers (since they are contacted more often)? I guess that since the latest upgrades, the schedulers aren't as much the problem anymore (it's the transitioners that have to catch up), but putting more strain server-side in general seems to be something that has to be done with care (if it really increases the server load) until everything is running smoothly.

Yup, it will put more stress on the servers, from the database server on up. I should have mentioned that in my first response...

Adding the option in there also sometimes causes your system to redownload its whole cache every time it contacts the servers, leading to some very large cache sizes that make no sense.

This is one of those things that I'm not messing with until the Boinc people put a little checkbox or something for me to activate the feature. Adding code to a program file seems a little iffy and is forcing the program to run in a way the programmers didn't want to make public (yet) :)
