Just upgraded to 5.2.2. I believe there used to be an option to File\\Hide. Is this gone now (for good)? |

By using the x button the Manager will be hidden and put in the systray. Read the News at the homepage Have a look at the Technical News Look if your question is not answered at the Boinc Wiki Best greetings, Thierry |

Just upgraded to 5.2.2. I believe there used to be an option to File\\Hide. Is this gone now (for good)? I do not see a Hide anymore. But if on Windows you click on the "X", (at least on mine) at the top rigt corner, the BOINC screen will close but the program will still run and analyze data. By using the x button the Manager will be hidden and put in the systray. Why the bloody blue blazes did they decide to take that option out of the file menu? It doesn't make sense... They really ought to publicize these sorts of changes if they're going to do that! I vote we bring BACK the "file->Hide" menu option! I realize they're probably trying to keep the menu as "clean" as possible, but that's just silly! |

You would not have to worry about hiding BOINC if you have permission to run the software on the system in question. The icon in the system tray lets you see at a glance that BOINC is loaded and the rollover feature allows you to see the status of the current Wu. 98SE XP2500+ @ 2.1 GHz Boinc v5.8.8 And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer. |

If you do a CTRL ALT Delete ....close boinc manager. This will hide the icon and still let boinc run. [img][/img] |

Those who lived with Windows for quite some time know of Double-clicking in the left upper corner of the GUI of whatever program to make sure it either kills or goes to the system tray. If you're just shortlived, then don't blame the makers, blame your own shortcomings. :) |
