Just to let everyone know...I DID e-mail Berkley about this. So far I have gotton NO response. But I imagine that they are aware of the problem. When it will be fixed and what is wrong i do NOT know :(

Remember, it is 7am in Florida, and they are out in Calif... So give them a while.

Well I e-mailed them about 6pm Eastern yesterday...maybe a little later. So they have probably read it already. I just wonder if they will respond.

Dammit!

Is there no END to this problem! Or am I the only one left now that still is not able to UL any WU's!?
Life is unfair!

At the moment all my WU's that were waiting to upload have. i am currently processing 1 WU and there is one that is Ready to run. It still took a few more tries to get that 1 WU to upload but It finally did. Now it will be a few hours before the next WU is ready to upload. The only thing I can say is I have to wait until that 1 is done.

No you are not, i have 3 WU that still can't upload and 4 that can't download.

Ok here is the deal. I had the same issue. And probably will again if lots of people are. Although I cannot say I am still because I do not have any WU's waiting to upload. I have about 4 1/2 more hours to go on the WU thats processing now. I am probably going to go to bed very soon here. But I will post a reply when I get up to let everyone know If I am still having this Issue.

Please, If you are still having this problem PLEASE copy and paste the error messages that come up in the messages screen. It would be helpful, because, some issues MAY not be related to the problem earlier. Error message posts alway help everyone to know whats up. So please post them :)

I will try to help as much as I can. But I also e-mailed Berkley about this about 6 or 7pm Eastern time (Oct. 12, 2005.) I will e-mail them again later for everyone. But If I do it now, then its likely no one will read it soon as it is only 4:17am there in California October 13, 2005. So be patient. I am trying here :)

Yesh my RAC is free falling too. I went from almost 40 RAC to 33 RAC in a few hours. I also have some results pending too. Is Berkley desserted today? Where are they?

Well from where I'm sitting nothing has changed since the project came back up from the weekly backup.

I've had no trouble getting new work, but have only been able to upload one result since then. Looks like I have about six or seven waiting to go, and four within 3 or 4 hours of completion.

Some diagnostic work on the connection indicates the pipe to the SSL is fine, the upload server just isn't reponding reliably for some reason.

It sounds like the serve may be full of old data or backlogged data. Maybe the server need to be cleaned out or even rebooted?

Possibily, but I hadn't even noticed the weekly backups after they set up the local disk storage for the UL/DL server after the big troubles of August. I'm betting the problem is something that changed in getting ready to roll out the 5x series.

I think that its more that they are shutting down the Classic software and are transferring the data from there. But it still should not affect the uploads IF people are still getting downloads.

They did say that the classic master science db is on the same server as the boinc scheduler. Might be all the merging is keeping the scheduler from making it's appointed rounds to it's fellow boinc components. On the other hand, it all could be being caused by..... CIRCUS CLOWNS! They're everywhere ya know.

I just think that everyone complains too much.. From the looks of it, there are some people who were here during the last outage, but there are also some people who were not.. If you just give UCB time, they will fix it.. They might not know what the problem is yet. If it is such a big deal to everyone, consider joining another project.. That is the beauty of BOINC... If you have already joined other projects, go for a walk, play with the dog, go see a movie.. Do something.. Worrying about the problems here isn't going to get anyone anywhere.. A RAC dropping from 40 to 33 is nothing.. My RAC can go up or down by more than 7 on any given day just based on which way the wind is blowing. I assure you that everyone will get the credit they deserve in time... If you run out of work... No big deal, attach to another project.. If you have work that passes a deadline, well, that is your own fault anyway.. I never have a WU pass a deadline and I am running computers from P400 all the way up to a X24400+. If you are passing the deadlines, you need to lower your cache.. There is no reason that someone should have 10 days worth of cache because then when you get into this situation, you are going to be in trouble.

Ok.. I think I am done for now..

Please! Spare us for your thinking and sofa-guessing, as to what is going on at Berkeley. You have only been crunching for a month.
What makes you think that you can help anyone here?

He has a point. He has been here for years, so he should be more familiar with things.. However, everyone has this problem as it appears, so he is allowed to post here because he is a part of the issue...

Thats no reason to go off on me. It should not matter because for 1 you do not have to be here for years to understand server problems or problems such as this one. I am very good with computers. And telling me to stop my couch guessing is no way to treat someone. I do not see him posting any ideas or help.

We can be pretty certain they know and they are not sitting on their hands. We know these guys and they are doing the business as we fill these forums with messages of "Oh my God...." "Hey my RAC.....". So lets be calm and watch some telly. Re-watch England again win its world cup group or something equally boring.
