I installed boinc_3.20_powerpc-apple-darwin on my G4 running OSX 10.3.4 and eventually actually received some work (after several hours of getting the 'no work available' message). However, at the same time I noticed it said it had downloaded a file called setiathome_3.08_powerpc-apple-darwin, which I found in my Projects folder, along with the work unit files, and now, the Terminal window says it is running setiathome_3.08. I still have the 'classic' SETI@home_OSX application, also version 3.08, which I've been running while there has been no work available on the boinc version, having only received work from Boinc twice so far this week. Can anyone please enlighten me to what is happening here? Has the Boinc program been downgraded, perhaps because my Mac isn't powerful enough to use the current version? I'm puzzled over this! |

Actully this is the way it susspose to be and there is a difference when using set 3.08 with boinc then with out it, to give u an idea, try this in ur terminal and see how fast it starts on a new WU after downloading to about 10-20minutes by typing cd /where ever your boinc folder is/slots/0 press return then type grep prog state.sah press return, this will give you an progress completion, it was never like this when just using the 3.08 client by itself.. What I really wanted to know is why does everyone else seem to have 3.20 at the top of their terminal window while I've got 3.08 at the top of mine? |

> What I really wanted to know is why does everyone else seem to have 3.20 at > the top of their terminal window while I've got 3.08 at the top of mine? > Read your terminal window: It should say something like this: 2004-07-22 08:19:09 [---] Starting BOINC client version 3.20 for powerpc-apple-darwin ......... 2004-07-22 08:19:09 [SETI@home] Resuming computation for result 02jblablah using setiathome version 3.08 So, you're running Boinc 3.20 which uses Setiathome 3.08 Sorry for crappy English, it's not my native tongue |

That's exactly what it does say! Thanks, Niels. I thought people were referring to what it said in the grey bar at the top, not at the top of the window itself. I'll be happier once they get a GUI for the boinc Mac OS version as I've not had to use Terminal much before this. |
