Hi All,

I have been a user of SETI for years now. Follwing the instructions on the site, I switched to BOINC.

I feel really disappinted with it. First of all, I do not have the screen saver anymore as it was recommended to remove it somewhere on the site.

Second, I left my computer processing work units and I see no credits being posted under my name.

Now the message on BOINC says the project is down.

I did my part, however I think it is time to leave the project.

I wish you all good luck and good results on the work.

All the best,

Hernán Vilar

It is also obvious that you haven't bothered to do any reading to find out why things are the way they are. But suffice to say Boinc will not provide you with the instant gratification you require. Good bye and good luck.

You can switch back too.

The recommendation to stop the screen saver is to improve processing performance. In the FAQ I point out that you can improve your "earnings" by turning off the screen saver. But if you don't care about the totals and do enjoy the screen saver, then by all means, keep it on. If you not a Hard-core "Cruncher" (like me) then enjoy the system the way you want.

Credit is only granted if you are a member of the quorum of results. That means that you have to return a valid result and only after the quorum is established will you see credit granted.

Just like classic, the BOINC site goes down every once in a while. I re-did the technical notes for the 4 years (or was it 5) that listed all of the major faillures of the SETI@Home Classic project (the originals are still available on the CLassic site).

You will be missed. But I don't understand this attitude of yours (and others).

I have to admit that I am really puzzled by it. When Microsoft releases a new and "improved" version of their operating systems people line up at midnight to get the version at 12:01 in the AM. And none of them have been anything to write home about (well, maybe in dispair). Yet, in a couple of days after trying BOINC you are going to chuck it all?

Why not go back to SETI@Home Classic? When the problems in BOINC get better/fixed come back.

We tolerate intolerable Operating Systems from Microsoft, word processing programs that become so unstable when you write a document longer than about 150 pages that it is obvious that they don't use it to create their own published documents. But BOINC has to be flawless right out of the gate.

I just don't get it.
