I've just changed over from Classic Seti and, after a few days of doing nothing, BOINC seems to be working. Problem is, Classic Seti used to do most of it's work when my Mac was idle, i.e. nobody was logged on, whereas BOINC seems to run ONLY when someone IS logged on. This is no use whatsoever. Can I get BOINC to run when nobody's logged on?

Yes, I think BOINC can be set to run when the computer is turned on, but no one is logged in. If I remember correctly, it involves installing BOINC at the root level, then setting up a cron script to auto-start BOINC when the computer reboots. The bad news is that I don't know how to do this. Hopefully, someone else will respond soon with instructions for you. In the meantime, you could search using the keywords "cron" and "root" and see what you can find.

OK, I've found a solution myself - here it is in case anyone else is interested.
I created a new user (imaginatively called Boinc) which just runs BOINC Manager. I leave this user logged on and use fast user switching to return to the logon screen. Then other users can log on and off as usual. I set BOINC's preferences to run only after the computer's been idle for 5 minutes so it now does this whether or not any of the other users are logged on. Simple and I didn't have to use Terminal.
