Is it just me, or do other people have random problems with 3.20?
3.20 was supposed to fix bugs (which it may have) but now I have more.

Boinc is incredibly bad at estimating time and how much to D/L
The "update" option stops working after a period of time.
The scroll bar in the message window stopped working.

PLEASE PLEASE let us set the preferences at home!
As I have to restart boinc every 2 days or so, it sucks having to reset my preferences....especially since the update does not work! (sometimes)

What I am saying is that Seti@home was stable and controllable. Boinc isn't.

If this continues I will go somewhere else, even thou I like the idea of predictor and seti. There is plenty of others out there..

Website Owner's Manual

Me thinks it may be you not being patient. BOINC works great, the main problem is we do not have enough work

Boinc is incredibly bad at estimating time and how much to D/L
"It doesn't do that the WUWUS come with that est already there"

The "update" option stops working after a period of time.
"BOINC will update automaticaly if you let it and not push update every 2 seconds"

The scroll bar in the message window stopped working.
"Now this is a serous bug :o)"

Shouldn't that be 'cheque'

The platform does seem a little rough round the edges. Due to the latest problems server side I have tried some of the alternatives. They are all a little (?) rough as well. I hope some of the other projects eventually get something going on the Boinc platform - like the search for cancer and AIDS drugs. Just rememeber - its not just a funky screen saver - important work is being done.

Thanks for taking it seriously. If one of your favourite MS programs lost its slide bar, I bet you would be squealing.
But the point is, the program does not work reliably.
And pushing update every 2 seconds? Why would I bother when it doesn't work the first time? Thanks for making me look like a twonk.

I suppose that when it crashed when I loaded it this time was me clicking on it too hard? Or is that not a "serious bug" when I had to restart the computer because it would not quit, even through task manager?

Well, due to continuing problems, I will stop using boinc. Which is a pity as I think predictor is a great project to be involved in. It appears Seti has enough people working for it, if the lack of work is anything to go by.

I may check back in every now and again to see if Boinc has matured.

No, it has to be check for you see, I am in the former British Colony of America heheheehehe, we speak American here not the Kings English err Queens lololololol

For Phoenix

My responses were to your statements with an eye towards the Title of your post, seems that a lot of people do not have the patience to ride out the seemly rough times and I have no patience with people like that.

BOINC will mature but alas I will not for I refuse to grow up.........Even though I am in my 60s......Have a nice Day.......

dont reset your pref's every other day -- make them once and leave it there

dont try to update every 2 seconds

be patient and wait for wu's like the rest of us

"July 8, 2004
Since yesterday evening we have distributed over 600,000 results. Thats a six-fold increase in overall system performance from our previous best. Now it looks as though we'll have occasional workunit shortages as we'll have to bring additional splitters online to keep up with demand. It's 8:50pm PDT and we have about 30,000 results in the queue, and we are sending about 1,000 every 10 minutes. Currently the splitters generate 4 workunits per minute which creates 12 results per minute.
"

I run boinc 3.19 and have no problems. Everyone says the new version is buggy so I would keep an eye on the download page for a new version again soon.

Well you may not want to switch to predictor, because i started running that and seti so my machine would work on something while seti was down. Well predictor is seriously overloaded and down for the last 2 days. So now its off to folding at home that doesn't use boinc.
