Hello,
I just wanted to ask, if somebody has got a solution for my problem.

I own a 1,2Ghz iBook with 768MB RAM, but I got so bad results, i can't believe it. A workunit need about 10-12 hours to complete and if I look at my results I got about 0,1-0,2 credits...

I'd be very pleased if someone could help me :)

But please if you got solutions that are not that easy to do, explain how I can do them...

Greetings Oeli

Hi Oeli,

I think you're looking at the wrong lines... you're talking about <a>this[/url] set of results, right?

The bottom two are still out. The next from the bottom took just under 10 hours and is estimated to be worth 49 credits. The two above that both errored out- you will NOT get any credit for either. The one currently at the top was completed in about 8.5 minutes and is only claiming about 2 credits.

Now, neither of the 2 WUs that completed properly have been validated yet, which is why you don't have any official credit yet... you've done the work but it sometimes takes a little while to be paid.

I hope that explains a little bit what is happening with your computer, and why you haven't got any credit yet. Welcome to BOINC

It's tough to say if anything is actually wrong when you have only two sucessfully completed WUs, neither of which have been validated.

The 0.04 credits you're talking about is not for the 10 hour WU, that one had an error for some reason and you probably won't get any credit for it once it's validated.

As for the 10 hour WU, they can vary in size, and you'll get credit proportional to the work you put into it. However, your benchmarks seem a little high, so you're probably claiming too much credit. When it gets validated, I'd expect you'll actually get about half that (you can update your benchmarks by going to File->Run Benchmarks, but it'll automatically update every week).

Anyway, the bottom line is that you should just wait a week or so and see if you still think your results are screwy.
Here's an Installation Guide.

Thanks guys for those explanations. They were useful for those credit problems ;)

But the speed problem still was there then this morning I installed a new SETI worker and optimized BOINC.
At first look it runs just good, let's see what happens and how much time the WU will take

DerOeli:
Check your System Preferences/Energy Saver settings. Click on the tab "Sleep" - then slide the top slider to "never", click on the check box for "put the display to sleep...", then set the second slider to around 5 minutes. Make sure the box "put the hard disk to sleep" is NOT checked. This will make your screen go black after 5 minutes of not using the computer. To get the screen back, just press any key or move the mouse or touch the trackpad.

Now, click on the tab Options. Near the bottom of the window, make sure "Processor Performance" is set to Highest.

Go back to System Preferences, and select Desktop & ScreenSaver. Click on the Screen Saver Tab. Move the slider to "Never".

You now have your computer set to maximum speed, and no screen saver; instead, the screen will just go black after 5 minutes, which saves energy and also allows BOINC to use all of the CPU cycles instead of wasting a lot of it on screensavers. The black screen will protect you screen nicely.
