Given that it seems that the current SETI@home running on BOINC is not able to keep up with the WU demands being put on the servers (which I find ridiculous since we were pretty much forced to move on to BOINC - SETI1 wu's don't get counted anymore now that they've frozen all of our records, but that's another story altogether), I was looking to sign up for some other BOINC projects so that my computers are actually doing something while they sit idling.

Since SETI is obviously not up for the task just yet, I still want to try keeping the processing to something space related, so my first thought was to Astropulse. Does anyone know what the status is on it? I tried going to the old website for it but it doesn't work now. Please don't tell me that this project was scrapped, or that they're going to wait until after SETI is running fine before they catch Astropulse up to speed.

Thanks.

You can run Predictor. It's on the BOINC platform.

It's a gene mapping/folding thing. The upside to that project is that they seem to have plenty of work, they keep everything running smoothly too.

If interested in it you could even join the Team in my sig running predictor.

Astropulse is rumored to be starting up development again soon.

I found Predictor@home last night in my searches, but I was really hoping on either Astropulse or SETI@home by itself. This new Einstein@home has my attention now as well.

Einstien is in very early development, it is not even alpha ready yet. AP now has a developer assigned (I think), and some of the *nix alpha crunchers may have seen some WUs. Climate Prediction.Net (CPDN) is rumored to be in early alpha. The only other publicly available project running at the moment is Predictor.

Go check out Pirates@home (http://pirates.vassar.edu/). Seems to be the alphs for Einstein@home. No work units yet, but good to sign up.

Predictor@home is down right now. They are having issues with the requirement that users have BOINC 3.20. If a user is running less than that it creates some problems for the project. I think they took it down to fix this.
