I have a large number of WU's that have passed their completion date and not reported because of this extended outage. What will happen to these results? Will we get credit for thid work we have don processing the WU's or will this just have been a waste of unused computer cycles?

It depends. If there are three results returned already, then, no, you will not get credit. If the third result gets returned before yours does, then it depends upon whether the validator gets to the WU before your result is returned. If you are the third result returned, then you will get credit if the result matches the other two well enough.

Note that about 30% of all results are apparently never returned, or returned invalid somehow, so there is hope for a fair number of your results.
