I have an old box I was using as a print server that I upgraded from S@H Classic to BOINC and it doesn't seem to be able to take it. Classic was running OK, 12 hours per or so (I think) BOINC is working on a unit for the 80th hour now and is at 43% with another "109 hours" to go. It's not crunching efficiently. 900MHz Duron Windows ME 384MB ram Anyone have any obvious suggestions besides dumping the box? I'd say ME is a POS, but that doesn't help me here. Thanks. |

Umm What changed? Oh Boinc happened. Don't defend that POS. That was the beauty of classic--A POS could help. I'd just let it run. At least you still have work and will probably stay busy during the long and frequent outages:) Doss |

I have several P3 machines from 600-866, and do not take that long on WUs. The 600 takes usually between 9-11 hours, the others are comparable. I think something else might be a problem? Heat? I know ME is not the best OS for Boinc. I am running on XP on all the P3s. Maybe try and OS update? My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

You can get an Optimized Client. You may need CPU-Z (which can also be found there) in order to find out what your CPU is capable of. Installation instructions are provided at that site also. Don't dump it. |

BOINC runs at a lower priority than Classic, hence if the print server spends a lot of it's time serving, then there will be less time for BOINC to crunch Seti Work Units. Grant Darwin NT |

Soemthing else is eating all your CPU cycles, this CPU should do a WU in about 10 hours. |
