I have an iMac that has been running BOINC/SETI for some time, and credit has accrued as expected. Recently I bought an iBook and installed BOINC/SETI. I have continued to receive credit for the iMac, but have received none for the iBook. I have checked every indicator I can think of, and all seems to be well except for this one anomaly. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

The iBook, host 1297869, has seven Work Units pending validation. All were sent out since the 15th of August. The backlog in the SETI validator queue (discussed in tremendous detail elsewhere in these boards...) means it is currently processing WUs sent out on August 9th.

The "normal" time you might have to wait for credit is "around 7 days", although it is often much less than that. Due to the backlog that number is currently closer to 11 days. It will take approximately two more weeks before that is even anticipated being "back to normal". I note your iMac has _30_ WUs pending validation; the only reason you have continued to receive credit is that these WUs _are_ being validated, just several days behind normal expectation. When they catch up, you will see a nice jump.

To see all of this for yourself, go to "Your Account", then "View Computers", pick one, click on "Results", and look at the dates and status for the WUs processed in the last few weeks by that computer.

Side note: You may want to check the BOINC Wiki http://boinc-doc.net/boinc-wiki/ and read about Optimized Clients. I am running the newest "beta" one from MacNN on my Mini (G4 processor) and the time per WU has been cut by over half. The "standard" SETI app does not use Altivec on G4s and this makes a tremendous difference. The downside to this is that you MUST keep a close eye on your results AND on the boards, and manually keep your BOINC and SETI apps "up to date", as the automatic updates will not happen. I would not recommend switching to an optimized app until after the validator backlog is cleared and your results can be quickly verified - you would not want to lose 11 days work if something was "wrong".

There is a "proven" optimized SETI app and optimized BOINC clients at
http://members.dslextreme.com/~readerforum/forum_team/boinc.html

Look at the bottom of the page for the SETI app. It has run well for several months without problems. Not as fast as the "Alpha" app that is being tested, but the "alpha" is still an unknown until we see more validations. The JavaLizard optimized app will still provide a 40% improvement over the standard app on Macs with G4 or G5 processors. The optimized BOINC clients serve no purpose other then to improve benchmarks to compensate the scoring for the SETI app.

And as Bill Michael, mentioned, there is a big backlog on validation right now, but once that catches up you will see your credit. Might take another week though.
