what happened to all the units (almost 1000)that I proccessed on the old Seti@home - why aren't they carried over?

You will find the number of WU"s from your S@H Classic account in your account mentioned as SETI@home classic workunits.
The numbers are coming from a snapshot taken on the 14th of May. An update of this number will probably happens once S@H Classic will be shut down.
