I have not been able to get the boinc client to compile on my Alpha, and I have not been able to get the seti binary from your ftp site. Where can I get a copy of the boinc client and the seti client compiled for Alpha?

I was able to get the seti client from your site, but no I have not been able to compile the boinc client. I am using RedHat 7.2. Are you using Suse 8.1?

Now it complains that I am missing some of the shared libraries! I am trying to download a copy of Suse 8.1. I will see if that helps. Thanks.

I had found copies of all of the missing libraries. I had it running and getting credit, and now they have upgraded. I'm downloading the latest Debian. I will install it on one of my Alpha's and see if I can compile the latest version.

I´ll try it tommorrow. The good news is that only boinc has to upgraded to v4.xx
the seti client on alpha was 4.00 so this should be working.

I would be happy if you give me an update on your progress with your debian machines.

I loaded one of my Alpha's with Debian 3.0r1. I then tried compiling the Boinc client code. It will not compile. It is the same problem on the Alpha with Redhat 7.2. I get the following error:

util.C:34: locale: No such file or directory

I´ve got some precompiled boinc4.06 versions for ev5, ev6 and ev67 one my ftp-server ( ftp://quit.homelinux.org ) maybe this helps.

There is no need of upgrading the boinc_seti_core client it allready is version 4.xx .But maybe you have to install a package called elfutils wich i had to do because i switched to gentoo linux. The core client came out with an error complaining about a missing libelf.so.0. Installing the elfutils package solved the problem and it´s working now.

I can not get to your FTP site. I would like to try the ev5 version of the boinc seti client. The version that I have been trying gives me an error (process exited with code 127). I am currently trying AlphaCore Linux.

If you wan't, it is posible to add a link to your webpage with your compiled clients, to the third party site (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_other.php).
Please contact me via email (seti-boinc@dotsch.de), that I can report the link to the boinc project team for adding.

Hi Dotsch,

Crunch3r's pre-compiled binary packages for Alpha can be found here :-

For ev5 ftp://quit.homeunix.org/Seti%40Home/boinc_setiathome_static_fftw_ev5.tar.bz2

For ev67
ftp://quit.homeunix.org/Seti%40Home/boinc_setiathome_static_fftw_ev67.tar.bz2

they are now at http://www.guntec.de/Crunch3r/
I made some serious optimisations and they are working fine.
Benchmarks went up by 65-85% on my EV67 and my new Seti Core Client improved too.

Updates of my current work can be found at http://www.guntec.de/Crunch3r/

@Dotsch you´re welcome to add a link to my page.
