I'm new to SETI & BOINC, so maybe this is off base, but:

I've seen a lot of recent posts that suggest that "central services" in berkeley can't keep up with validation processing of all the results being generated.

Does that mean those of us who are interested in donating cycles to any good science cause should re-allocate our BOINC settings to give priority to another project???

The problem that Seti is having is centered around their operating system. The problem is they have millions of files in the directory structure. Evidently, a large chunk of those files have been orphaned due to circumstances in the past. This has put the validators behind which adds to the number of files.

They are working on a fix. The file deleters are still deleting files faster than we send them in (which is a good thing).

On these boards you will find at least two schools of thought on this issue. The first is to lower or eliminate ones resources to seti until the backlog is cleared.

The other is to keep sending them WU's because they need to know what to do to fix this situation. If they don't have this situation then they won't be able to learn from it.

It is your choice as to which school you subscribe.

Either way, seti will be fixed, WU's will be validated, and credits will be issued.
