I understand that it takes time for 3 people to validate a WU but up until around this month almost all my credit was coming in steadly, however around 8/04/05 almost all my credit was pending and stil is. Is there some reason for this? I think I have recieved credit for 1 WU since the 4th.

Any ideas...

The system struggles to cope right now. We all have WU waiting tbh. Just hang on a while (perhaps days) and it will clear.

look at the server status page. You'll see that there are currently 571,526 results Waiting for validation.

Most of your missing credits are pending there.

Wait a few days. you credits will be granted when the validators catch up.

Now it's up to 572,730 results waiting for validation. When are the validators going to begin to get caught up?

The priority within boinc@seti seems to be ordered by this (Which it feels like):

1. Filling the outgoing WU queue with work so people can get work rather than it times out.
2. The machines which looks at the ougoing queue to see if there is work to be refilled with (Splitters) fills the outgoing queue up.
3. Getting results back into a type of preliminary db to pass through the accurate/validation process.
4. Validate results and put them into main db for storage.
5. Deleters trying to delete db posts that are old enough for clients that have missed the last return date or something..

I don't know if this priority list is accurate but from what i can judge the workflow it seems rather ok..
Correct me.. Someone..

It appears that the validater is still loseing ground. should it still be climbing this long after a restart, or are there greater issues at hand that need to be addresed?

I think a BIGGER question is why your AMD64 3200+ computer is taking 9,560.42 seconds to process one work unit on average, and my AMD64 3200+ is only taking 4,275.67 seconds! I am using the optimized client, evidently you are not. IF you were to use an optimized version of the program you would be able to do more units and then get even more credits when the validators do catch back up.

I suspect that something has SNAFU'd on the validator side of things.

The queue is growing, and credit does not seem to be getting granted.

Boincstats has almost flatlined when it comes to SETI credit.

http://www.boincstats.com/stats/project_graph.php?pr=sah

The results are getting returned, and new WU's are getting issued, but not a lot else, so it seems. Not that it matters. The credit will get granted..

But how big is the disk (or disks) at berkeley that store returned work prior to validation?

It can't be infinite. Sooner or later is will fill up. Then the SNAFU will become FUBAR.

I am a small potatoe, and I have 50 waiting to validate, and about the same waiting to upload. No point in uploading them. Why add to a big pile, when it's only getting bigger.

Mikey I think his is a AMD XP 3200+ like mine, I return a unit in between say 7000 to 8000 seconds and yes I am running Mavericks optimised client.

Oh BTW how did you wind up with one of your machines having a "PROSUSSER"

I think I know why for some of them. I have 17 finished work units and 17 that didn't download. That makes 34 that probably won't get to the server the way things are going. I haven't had a good transfer since the database was reorganized last week.

Indeed -- subject of a number of different message topics and a batch of messages here.

Folks in Berkeley are aware that there is some sort of problem with validator processing. They haven't declared that they know what the specific problem is or for that matter what a specific solution is.

The problem with the validation process surfaced fairly early last week. I've got something approaching 1000 pending credit at this point. Up to the end of July I was seeing about 2K credits a day, with the validator problems this dropped off down to zero over the course of several days (plus the outage of course) and yesterday, even with the LARGE backlog, just moved over 1K -- and I don't see it being more than that today.

I suspect that something has SNAFU'd on the validator side of things.

The queue is growing, and credit does not seem to be getting granted.

This post poses a question for me... why are my times so obscenely high? my avg
time for 1 work unit is over 10,000. My computer is running BOINC 24 hours a day. Can someone give me a pointer or two on how to remedy this?

At the risk of making a "me too" post, my last 5 WUs have been pending since the 2nd of Aug..

This raises a question (that I think I might have asked once before): "What happens if the validator processes a pending WU for accreditation past the WU's deadline?

That's not an implicit vote of no-confidence in the Devs, and shouldn't be interpreted as such. Still... What if?

You still get credit as your WU is in before the deadline and the validator hasn't validated the result. You can still get credit even returning a WU past the deadline as long as the validator hasn't validated the result or resent the work if I recall correctly. If you turn your WU in late after the validator has validated it with 3 on-time results, you lose.

To truly explore, one must keep an open mind...
