Hi, I have two computers running Boink. One 2GHz Wintel and an old laptop wintel (366MHz). The specs on these two machines are slightly different, but even though I have set the preferences for the old laptop very moderatly, I still get: No work available(there was work but you dont have enough disk space allocated) In the preferences for the laptop, I have allocated 0.5 Gb to Boink and leave 0.1 Gb free and dont take more than 90% of the total space. My hard drive is 6 Gb and 1.9 Gb is free... Furthermore, I have just asked for 1 to 2 days of workunits just to make sure there would be room enough. Anyone got some clue on what is going wrong here? |

Not really, BOINC seems to use about 100Mb total of space for the four projects I am attached to. One of my machines only has about 300MB free, and I have set to use 1GB and leave 0.1GB with 50% free, and this seems to work. The only way to get the two separate is to use different locations for the two machines. Say one at work and the other at home, otherwise they will use the same settings. jm7 |

I have named the machines differently (school and work), and defined the preferences such that it should fit the hardware on each machine. However, it might be a problem that I have both machines here at work (PhD student), which implies both machines having the same IP-number. Note that Boink works very well on the 2Ghz machine.... well, ok at least. For example, I have allocated 5GB of my hard drive to Boink, but Boink only uses 12MB. I had both machines working perfectly on classic before I switched. Any other ideas on what might be going on here? |

Other BOINC projects may use much more HD space later. I believe that there may be a numeric overflow at 4GB (or maybe 2GB) try allowing a number smaller than that. > > I had both machines working perfectly on classic before I switched. I have 10 machines of various sorts running with the same configuration. I have set the space to leave down to what the smallest machine can handle. But I have the maximum space set to something that I am comfortable on the larger computers. Seems to work. > > Any other ideas on what might be going on here? > Do you have two computers in your list of computers? If so, then BOINC is keeping them separate. Also the IP address is the internal IP address on your network, not the IP address of the firewall/router at the network boundary. jm7 |

I had three initially, since Boink thought I had two idential laptops, but I merged the laptops. OK, I give you that the idea about identical IP numbers might been a bit out there, but I am honestly lost here. I have no idea what could have gone wrong. I keep getting: "Message from server: No work available(there was work but you dont have enough disk space allocated)" When I initially defined the preferences I did it for the 2Ghz machine, but I have since defined (and redefined over and over again) the settings for the laptop (and updated the settings) in a desperated attempt to make the server understand that there is enough disk space. Alas, It has all been in vein so far. Any clues on what could be done now? (expect from uninstalling the program all together...) /P |

This should be enough for now. jm7 jm7 |

I tried to do as you said... unfortunately I got the same result: "Message from server: No work available(there was work but you dont have enough disk space allocated" What is wrong????????? /P |

But I admit at this point I am really puzzled. jm7 |
