I have two computers that I want to install boinc on as a service. I was reading somewhere that it is possible to change the name of the service so that other people using the computer wouldn't know what it is, that way they dont mess with it. Any help would be apprecieated.

do you have permission to be putting BOINC on these computers? and if so then why are you worried about anyone messing with it? Also, they would have to have administrator rights to do anything to a service.

FFEMTcJ,

It's unknown to me that you can change the name of the service, but I guess it shouldn't be so hard to do if you want to. This installation help page (for Windows) tells you a little more of service installation. Look at the two paragraphs labeled Service installation.

For instance, it says that only you, the installer, has access to the files and BOINC is not listed in the Start menu of other users either.
