I thought that only 3 or 4 computers were needed to validate a WU. Take this one for instance: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=21067252 There are 4 computers that completed it, and noone has credit. I have many like that. Will it just take time or what is the issue? edit Also, when will the Pending Credit link be turned on? /edit edit2 I have approx. 75 with a pending credit for WU 20220285 I have a validate error. What does that mean? /edit2 - cJ |

Hello, If the validator is back logged (which is is right now), then it can take a little while for the units to be checked against each other. Right now, there is a 1 h back log (see here for up to date values), so hopefully you'll get credit there shortly. As long as it says "pending" there is still hope. Credit can also be refused (ie 0 credits granted) if your result is not similar enough to the others in your group (this is what happened for your WU #20220285), or if there are too many d/l and computing errors. The "Pending Credits" link has been down for most of the past year. As to when it goes back on? Your guess is as good as mine. Hope this helps! |

Imagine a large DB the validator starts at the top examining each until it finds a group of result with 3 successful returns, it examines the answers, decides if they're similar enough, if so it grants credits. if not then it marks them and move on down the table. This happens over and over and over. With the large number of newly returned WU it can take a while for it to cycle through the whole list. If you or someone else with that WU just returned it after the Validator examined that part of the table it can take almost twice the scan time to get back to yours. Validate error, means simply that. Something was wrong with the result you returned. This could be bad data from Overclocking, OS screw ups, transfer screw ups, anything that harmed the data. The pending credits page hasn't work as long as I've been here and there seems to be no hurry or plan to get it working. It doesn't do much and takes up much resources. Don't plan on ever seeing it working. tony |
