Since there are still lot of us using the plain old Dialup system it would be a nice thing to put this in core client's options.

I've set the options to automatically dial when client needs internet connection. Because it often completes a workunit in the midle of the night, I selected that it automatically disconnects from the internet.

It's OK until it finishes a workunit during the day and I decide to surf a bit when the client connects.
So it gets really frustrating when it disconnects in the middle of surfing.

VB,

A very good suggestion for BOINC. Hopefully they can work something like that into the communications of boinc soon.

I don't know if you have seen it or not, but under the Questions and Answers there is a forum for Wish List. Your suggestion might get noticed quicker there than here.

Otherwise, keep up the positive feed back, constructive criticisms and the suggestions for further enhancements of BOINC.

4.7x is dealing with a lot of the dialup issues.

Things have been changed so that the client will only automatically disconnect if it is aloud to and it connected up to begin with.

If it didn't create the connection it doesn't disconnect the modem after it is done.

4.71 and 4.72 contains the latest dial-up enhancements.

Does it have a volume control? I worry that when it is aloud it will wake up the nighbors ...

Hey Paul,

I thought I heard you saying somewhere that with 10,000 out-of-work comedians you were going to swear off attempting to be one??

Maybe you CAN think of giving up your day job after all ... :).

Good one, mate!!

Classic Jackie Mason, who stole it from Henny Youngman.

Stewie: So, is there any tread left on the tires? Or at this point would it be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway?
