Is it possible to make BOINC download more then two workunits?
I would like to be able to download say 10 so I don't have to lug my computer to my network connection here when I want to update.

Thanks, Moylance

[this is my seting right now waiting for new Alpha Boinc 4.0]
increase the last one to whatever
How far is do you have to move it?

About 20 meters but you know parents, nagging you taking up the main computer monitor. Mind you if I was to buy a USB wireless annenter (sp?) then I would be fine.

I'll look at the settings and see what I can do. I've only just starting the new BOINC system and at first I didn't like it but I'm getting used to it. Instead of choosing say 0.2 days can I put full days such as 5 days?

I'll investigate myself instead of being lazy. :P

Thanks, Moylance

Yes you can put in full days, most people have that already. Just be aware that the workunits are coming thru with different times, some will say they will take 18 hours, some say they will take the correct amount of time, they seem to all only take the correct amount of time to process on your machine. But the estimated amount of time messes up the download servers. Meaning that if you get a work unit that says it will take 18 hours, and your machine processes them in 2 hours they you will not get as many as you should have. Try for a balance that gets you reconnected back to Berkeley within a week, because after 2 weeks the workunit expires and does not count in your totals, even if you process it. If you have alot of units that are expired, look under the work tab
and then the report deadline column, do a reset, DO NOT detatch, you will still lose all the units in the cache but you will not have to re-attatch. But if the units are past the report deadline you don't want them anyway.

My settings are for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 4 days of units to be cached and it seems to be working okay. I do have an always on connection though.

Mostly a good post, however it is still possible to get credit for a late workunit so a reset is only a good idea if you still have unprocessed work past the deadline. If it is already done turn it in, it may be validated.

It seems to be working sort of, but know how come my credit isn't increasing and I've done WUs and they've been sent off?

Patience. Results must be verified by two other computers. When they return the WUs is sort of random, and depends upon queue size, speed, other projects attached to, errors, resets... Any result not returned by the deadline will generate a new copy of the WU sent to another host. If this happens a few times, a particular WU may take many weeks to generate credit. However, most of the time credit will be granted within a week or two. After a while you will build up a pool of pending results, and a fairly steady rate of credit will be granted.
