System basics: Dual P3 512MB ECC SDRAM WinXP Pro SP2 Problems: 1) After suspending work a new work unit isn't always started at the completion of a running unit. I have to close BOINC and start it again to make sure it operates properly overnight. If I don't when I get up in the morning I find only one work unit active. 2) I attached to LHC@home and immediately it suspended both of the seti units I had running. I suspended one of the sixtrack units and another one appeared. I had to set it to no new work and suspend that unit as well to get a seti unit to run. The LTD is 2.08 seconds and the LHC deadlines are the same day as my most recently downloaded seti units. For some reason a LHC unit due on 29 Jul 2005 has a higher priority than a seti unit due 27 Jul 2005. To those who say there's no problem with the BOINC (4.45) scheduler I say think again. I can't help but wonder if there's a priority setting hidden somewhere in the project that's set higher for other projects than what seti's set for. |

If you've got Seti and LHC at 50-50 resource shares, then there is none. What you are experiencing is the start of the calculation of LTD. So if you just let it run LHC at that moment, in a couple of days the scheduler will have figured out where, what and why and you'll see the units change as usual. But fighting the scheduler will only make it worse. |
