Hi Seti/Boinc users,

The 'old' Seti@home had a nice gadget, I completed this much work is so muh time and was ranked 80.000 out of 5.346.456 users, I miss this insignificant but fun info...please put it in Boinc...

Is there a way to hide the tray-icon ? My boss doesn't like this.

Take care,

Peter

Hij and welcome Peter,

I think the task distribution here at Boinc works fine:

The project teams does the science, the application coding, and they deliver the raw data for the statistics. They even include some rudimentary statistics on the site as well.

The eager community delivers all kind of statistics, banners, competition, gadgets...you name it, it's probably already there.

Click on my left banner to go to my favourite Statspage.

As for the sys-tray icon:

I think, running (and installing) it as a service will do that, but I'm not sure.

Installing and running as a service does indeed run w/o the B icon in the task bar.

Peter, It's nice of you to join the BOINC Family but
I must Caution you. If you run BOINC on your company computer
and you know they don't want it, You risk losing your position.

Do not run any project without the owners permission.

Good Luck.

indeed, especially if they suspect that it's affecting performance (primarily of your computer) or if it gets in the way of users completing tasks.

I tried installing seti (classic back then) on a few computers in the tech dept at one of the places i've worked (with permission) but it didn't go well, ideally needed a service install, which was unheard of back then (unless doing some tweaking) as it was getting in the way of users on the system.
