Bomb explosions in London!

From BBC
An Islamist website has posted a statement - purportedly from al-Qaeda - claiming it was behind the attacks.

From CNN

Statement claiming London attacks from a group that's calling itself "the Secret Organisation Group of al-Qaeda of Jihad Organisation in Europe", also saying:

"We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused."

And, BTW, I remember a discussion here not long time ago, where someone, we all know, thought the word Jihad was so funny that it could make a joke, he posted here! We here in Europe don't find the word Jihad amusing at all, and we live with it here!

They just said on BBC that it was a suicide bomber. And since the IRA doesn't use suicide bombers, it was probly Al-Qaeda or associates. To me this is scary because I thought that much of the Al-Qaeda people were on the run. But this event could prove that they're still very active.

Fuzzy about Jihad, these people don't really care about Jihad I'd say since they were probly brainwashed to kill just as many people as they can.

Alex, where have you been? A suicide bomber? There has been 7 explosions, Alex, and one suicide bomber has not been able to cover them all! Only one, you know, goes with the territory!

Didn't you read the links I provided? I quote:

Statement claiming London attacks
The BBC has located an Islamist website that has published a 200-word statement issued by an organisation saying it carried out the London bombings.

The organisation calls itself the Secret Organisation Group of al-Qaeda [literally the base] of Jihad Organisation in Europe.

The group not previously been heard of.

The website has previously carried statements purporting to be from al-Qaeda. It is not possible to verify such claims published on the web.

This is the full text of the statement.

"In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate, may peace be upon the cheerful one and undaunted fighter, Prophet Muhammad, God's peace be upon him.

Nation of Islam and Arab nation: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge against the British Zionist Crusader government in retaliation for the massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heroic mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London. Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters.

We have repeatedly warned the British Government and people. We have fulfilled our promise and carried out our blessed military raid in Britain after our mujahideen exerted strenuous efforts over a long period of time to ensure the success of the raid.

We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused.

God says: "You who believe: If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly."

This is Jihad, Alex!!!

Well, I've never heard of IRA attacking several targets in an coordinated efford like this, so I'd rule out IRA instantly. Besides, they don't really have any reason to attack at the moment - at least not big scale like this. And BTW as far as I know they always target military or police.

They way this has happened sounds more typical for Al-Qaeda and ass.

Ahem, it could just be that BBC have information about, or reason to believe that, one of the bombs being the result of a suicide bomber. And as things are currently as chaotic as they are, it's plausible that all or some of these bombings were suicide bombings.

BTW about Jihad: I personally believe that this concept is used by such "organizations" at will - to gain support for purposes that may not even have anything to do with Jihad. And I'm not sure Al-Qaeda really have Jihad in mind (although supporters may believe so) - it's all about power and demonstrations of power, to gain more subjects to rule over. My view at least.

What ever the cause, what ever the reason, my heart goes out to the British people. We're all in this together, we're all targets. It's a clear question of us verses them. It's about time we stop the politically correct BS and start profiling these people and not let them into our countries. We know who they are, and which group of people they hide amongst. And when these attacks happen, this same group usually remains completely silent in condemning this kind of outrage. Religion has everything to do with this, not just culture and politics. With all of these attackers, their last living wet dream, just before they blow themselves up, is the seventy virgins they think they will shortly be screwing in heaven.

One question: Where was the intelligence?

If you don't think religion had anything to do with the attack, this is a posting on the BBC from an Arab website claiming responsibility:

"In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate, may peace be upon the cheerful one and undaunted fighter, Prophet Muhammad, God's peace be upon him.

Nation of Islam and Arab nation: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge against the British Zionist Crusader government in retaliation for the massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan. I understand that Fuzzy. The report of the possible suicide bomber was from one area I believe. I should have mentioned that though. But the possibility of even just one suicide bomber is enough to presume that it was the work of Al-Qaeda types.

I don't doubt that these extremists claim to be engaged in some sort of Holy War against the west, but most Muslims throughout the world, including mainstream Muslim clerics, have said that these terrorists are not engaging in a legitimate Jihad. So their use of the laws of Jihad to justify their terrible actions are BS. If people in the west start to use the word Jihad, than the terrorists are able to achieve their goals easier, since in a way it recognizes their actions as Jihad. That may help them get even more support in predominantly Muslim societies.

I was just listening to Will Smith's Lost & Found album last night. I found a snippet of lyrics which fit as a glove. It's from the track Ms. Holy Roller.

The greatest atrocities ever committed on this planet have been in the name of God
This country was founded by the Puritans for the express purpose of opression free worship
Your attitude is the same arrogant fearful fundamentalism
that fueled the hatred, of the Crusades and the attacks of 9/11
If we are not allowed to worship God as groups and individuals free from persecution
and respect for tolerance, there's only one outcome

Only a few brave Muslim clerics have openly condemned the terrorists use of Jihad. But the vast majority of them have either remained silent, or have publicly come out in support of these murderous activities. I stand my ground and will not be a apologizer for religious fanatics of any ilk.

These ancient superstitious beliefs have directly been the cause of many millions of deaths for the past 2,000 years. Not to mention the millions of deaths indirectly due to religiously applied ignorance. Hundreds of millions would not be a figure which is out of bounds when you throw in all the persecutions and wars involving religion. What a blood bath in the name of someone's Ba'al.

Good points. Another thing that came to mind was that the IRA might not have enough weapons to do this kind of work anymore because of the disarmament.

Me neither. But if I was a cleric, I'd be a little afraid to go against these groups because they attack people for speaking out against them.

Alex lad if you think that the ingredients needed to make these kind of weapons are not easy to get you need to do a wee bit of research.

I could easily make a bomb and not have to buy anything that can not be found in your local grocery store.

I am thinking that somewhere along the line "In the name of God" will not be taken kindly anymore..

It's possible that experienced bomb makers might be able to do that. We'll just have to wait and see what the British authorities reveal about the explosives in the next few days.

they play this song on our local radio .... this morming ..

I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one ........... John Lennon

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

It has nothing to do with God.

I'm not aware of any religion that actually say you should kill people who don't do what you want them to.

Some people will use any excuse as a justification for acts of terror.

Acts of terror in the long run just don't work.

To my mind the reason why some make up these (fairly obvious) excuses is because they are too feeble to think of any alternatives or are too scared to say what their real political intentions are.

Words are absent.
This is another sad day. How much more to come?
My thoughts are over at the people in the UK.

Though, there's so few one can do about it. It makes me feel helpless...
