I have a G4 and a G5 OS X 10.3.9. Boinc is running in the one with Internet connection. Is there a way to run the packets on the second Mac at the same time?. I have only one web connection, but I would love to copy the app and the packets of data, and run them in the other Mac.

Hoping this is possible,

First solution: Buy a router for your computers - hook the router up to the internet connection and the two computers to the router via ethernet - instant home network. If the G4 is a laptop, buy the Airport Extreme (bigger one that looks like a flattened football), connect it to the internet, and connect the G5 computer to it via ethernet and connect the G4 laptop via wireless

Second solution: connect the two computers together with an ethernet cable. Open systems preferences in the one with the internet connection, click on Sharing, then click on the Internet button. Turn on Internet sharing and make sure the Built-in Ethernet box is checked. This will make the computer with the internet connection share its connection with the other computer.

Third solution: If both computers have an Airport Card, open systems preferences in the one with the internet connection, click on Sharing, then click on the Internet button. Turn on Internet sharing and make sure the Airport box is checked. This will make the computer with the internet connection share its connection with the other computer wirelessly - no Airport Extreme base station is needed.

If your were asking if you could download Work Units on one computer and run them on another, the quick answer is NO - each computer has a unique ID used for the BOINC stuff.

Hope this helps.

Sure, it helps me a lot. Mine are a G4 Bondi Blue iMac, the second the new G5 desktop Mac. I«ll see to it. I like the "share internet" solution better. And you guessed right, I was wondering about moving WU around.

No plist. Just download the clients (BOINC and SETI, plus another if you'd like). When you attach the project, just enter in the same URL and Account ID you received when you signed up. The BOINC server will know you have more than one computer, and it will keep them separate, but give one account all the credit for the work performed.
