Of course there are many ways you can get back there with just a few steps, but why have the path links at all if they are not going to be complete and get you back there in just one step?
If you look at the path link at the top of this page is reads
Questions and problems : Wish list : A Wish
If you look at the path link at the top of the regular message board, it reads
Message boards : Number crunching : Strange Computer Description
or the appropriate name for whatever thread you're in.
One of the methods for getting to the questions and problems board is the very first link on "message boards", but if you follow that link to get here, your path link at the top of the page starts at step 2 instead of step 1. On the other board, it takes you all the way back to step 1.
If it doesn't allow you to go back to where you came from, what's its purpose? Why have it at all if it's not fully usable? All it needs is one more link to take you all the way back to the main message board starting point to make it complete. A very simple request, then it does everything it should do.
