Can an admin remove that thread with forum ID 1653? Not only does it serve no purpose other than to harass a user, but the user name chosen by the individual creating that thread is impossibly and exists solely for harassment. <a> |

I agree, they should track the IP Address back and Ban the user & Computer from BOINC ... |

> I agree, they should track the IP Address back and Ban the user & Computer > from BOINC ... > A better fix, might to just limit the length of a user's name to a reasonable size (30 chars?). They can ban the user/IP, but with a dialup, IP isn't a constant, and they can just create a new acct. |

They can ban the user/IP, but with a dialup, IP isn't a constant, and they can just create a new acct. ========== Yes I know but at least they would make him do some work & maybe he would think about it the next time ... If he has to create a new account then he has to start over for Credits I would think, so if people know if they get banned they have to start over they would think twice about something like that that ... Obviously this is all a moot point anyway, the person created that account for the express purpose of posting what he did, so I doubt banning the Account would have any effect on the person what so ever ... |

Let's say that someone intentionally adds a real name that's long... That would mess up the formating, but would still be valid! (didn't this guido guy first have a real (and long) name?) |

Guido may annoy some people, but no one thinks he is being malicious. The owner of that username and author of that thread has no intention of contributing to the Seti project; he/she is only interested in bashing someone. No doubt this person probably runs Seti under a different account; clearly they weren't up to the challenge of facing the heat for their posts - otherwise they would have used their real account nickname. <a> |

Not doing so will also ripple through to the various "stats" sites too! |

We know what you are saying Woody, and it would be a good idea also to limit the name size ... IMO |

> Not doing so will also ripple through to the various "stats" sites too! Nah! I have a limit in my database on all of the text fields. Won't mess me up, will just hack their name off - 'tis water off my back :) - A member of The Knights Who Say NI! My Stats site |

A cap on pic size would be nice, seeing how everyone has gone picture crazy. Some of these threads take over 3 minutes to load with a 56K modem. It was bad when it was just Guido, now he has his own cult of followers. |

Oi, SETI gave us the abbility to post pics so let people post pics, so what if people like Guido abuse them :D (I like them, they dont bother me). If you cant load the page because its too big there probably nothing useful on there, unless you know there is a pic to rant about, lol. Have fun and guido carry on posting pics, no one can stop you Muhahaha! ^ Click Here ^ ^ Click Here ^ ^ Click Here ^ |

It follows the inverse square law: To get 4 times the pictures you only have to complian twice as much |
