Hi Ulli :-)

Please change the name of the thread to reflect that it is a DEV VERSION.

I know you say that in your post that it is, but someone will not read that far.

Thanks for the info :-)

v5.xx is not ready for download, a quick test revealed the only results not erroring-out was seti_enhanced, while no project will give you any work at all since wrong major version...

Back to 4.45 :)
(It did delete all my units, CPDN clean, Seti cleaned out, LHC cleaned out, Einstein as well. First thing 4.45 did was download new apps etc. for all the projects bar CPDN (offline) and Seti (deferring for 24 hours??) ;))

This release is only intended for ALPHA testers, I'm doing PRE-Alpha testing.

Here's Roms email from the Boinc ALPHA mail list:

Howdy Gang,

I'm releasing 5.00 for Windows to you all even before I've completed
my test pass. This release includes Account Management improvements and is
enabled out of the box as well as dial-up improvements.

Issues I know about are:
1. The manager doesn't currently pick-up preferences changes after
downloading new preferences from a project server.
2. The manager doesn't ever stop trying to connect when the modem fails to
be able to establish a connection.

Let me know of anything else. :)

----- Rom

I know it's not ready for even Beta testing.

Thanks for the concern, James. I'm sure I'll survive.

Let's just hope people will see it before they run into the same problem and come complaining about it again. ;)

Sir Ulli might best change the name of the thread to: Don't download this version at all. :-D

Hmm...so when will it be ready for beta testing? 5.01?

I haar this one's still alpha testing and I don't want to go that far.

major version problem
2005-07-01 19:31:19 [SETI@home] Message from server: Need major version 4 of the BOINC core client. You have 5. You may have an outdated code verification key. This may prevent you from accepting new executables. If the problem persists, detach/attach the project.
Can't get new work
