downloaded the recomended boinc for mac with the gui. Nothing happens, absolutely nothing. the program doesn't launch at all (except the icon blips for a split second and dissapears). When I try to select the boicsaver.saver a message says "did not load properly." What gives. I've looked through this forum and found no intelligable answers. Thanks.

You need to provide more information, Chris. Which recommended BOINC did you down load, the command line version, MenuBar simple GUI, or BOINC Manager advanced GUI? If you don't know that, then what is the name of the downloaded file that showed up on your computer? Did you already register for BOINC and SETI and receive a URL and user account ID? What kind of computer do you have? Which operating system does your comptuer have - Mac OS 9.2 or Mac OS 10.4.1 Tiger, or something in between? In other words, you need to give us enough information so we can help you.

Mac OS x.3.8, BOINC Manager advanced GUI. I'm already registered, been using seti for a couple yrs.

I think your problem is that you are still running 10.3.8. According to the BOINC download page, "BOINC no longer works on Mac OS 10.2 and requires 10.3.9 or higher." You can go here to download 10.3.9 - once you install it, BOINC Manager should run just fine.

I had the same problem with a G3 iMac, until I upgraded from 10.3.8 to 10.3.9 . Boinc Icon would just blink or bounce in dock a couple of times and then nothing. After the update, things work fine. Also ran disk utility and repaired permissions. As everyone has said you need to give more info on what OS.
