I have three submissions that I received 0(Zero) credits for. the other two result submitters in the same group received in the mid 20's for each. Here are the result ID's and work unit ID's respectively.. 77209967,18576285 77179283,18569841 77176648,18569347 Any explpanation would be appreciated. Seems kind of bogus to do work and get absolutely NO credit for it. |

If you click on the Result ID's for those units you will see, that they are marked as invalid. Do you overclock? Is the cpu temperature too high (It's summer on the northern hemisphere)? All fans running and cooler fins free from dust bunnies? Just a few suggestions... Aloha, Uli |

See Ulrichs' post. They were returned but the science didn't match up to the other returned results, so they were marked "invalid". All you can do is try to figure out what in you computer thrashed the science. Maybe defragmentor ran, or you're overclocked to much, things like this can do it. |

He might of. Maybe he was just hoping for a different answer or way to get his 60 credits? Maybe someone smarter than I, need to walk him through his system to figure it out. |

I had 6 WU's that I did not get credit for. I was told by you guys that maybe my computer ran hot or I overclocked (can you explain over clocking please). I'm now convinced that the reason I did not get these credits is because: they where returned either right "before" or right "after" the June 10th problem Seti encountered. This is one example: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=17493041 It says "no reply". I did it...I returned it. A couple said "invalid". Now the reason I think it was somehow connected to the Seti problem is that I have "Never" had an invalid or "no reply" result returnded "before" this or since. Maybe its coincidence but all the WU's I did not get credit for happened at exactly that time....when Seti was down. PS> 6 is a lot of WU's to lose for me....it takes about 8 -10 hours to complete 1. They could be just ghost Wu's. There has been a bit of a problem with this lately. I even got several a while back. It's nothing to worry too much about and the work will get done by another host :) 98SE XP2500+ @ 2.1 GHz Boinc v5.8.8 And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer. |

...I was told by you guys that maybe my computer ran hot or I overclocked (can you explain over clocking please)... Overclocking means you're running your processor at a (slightly) higher clock speed than supposed by the manufacturer. This has the side effect, that the processor runs hotter and may calculate faulty results. Aloha, Uli |

Overclocked computers can often appear "stable" but the floating point operations can be screwed. If you overclock, you should thrash test the CPU with a program like Super Pi or Prime95 for 24 hours to test the floating point performance before joining a distributed project. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

Even if you do not over-clock, if the systems run too hot they can become unstable. And, it is summer, so that could be the answer ... Laptops also get too hot if left laying directly on a desktop, prop them up with a dish rack or something and then put a fan on them ... |

I have done no overclocking, System temps are fine, All needed fans running, no un-necessary apps running, and no defrag kicking ogg either. Just seemed odd that the system has been crunching happily before and after these three. |

Just seemed odd that the system has been crunching happily before and after these three. Well, things happen. I have had a couple times where it happened to me, though usually only for one or two WU ... |
