Hello!

I need a replacement for the boincmgr which runs in textmode. I have some machines running, which I can only reach via ssh. These machines don't have any GUI installed and I don't want to install one.

Does anyone know such a tool?

Thank you very much,

if you allow remote access, you can use the windows boincmanager or boincview to manage your headless linux blades easily.

Okay. I will look around how secure or insecure this is possible, thank you!

Create a file in the boinc directory called remote_hosts.cfg and within this file, put the IP number(s) of the remote machine you wish to allow to manage the headless client.

Okay. I will look around how secure or insecure this is possible, thank you!

Thank you very much, I already did this. I found the password-field in the windows boincmanager. Is this is "for future use" or can I set a password anywhere?

Password protection
If you place a password in a file gui_rpc_auth.cfg in your BOINC directory, GUI RPCs must be authenticated using the password.

Again thank you very much! This helps me feel much better regarding security although some kind of password-encryption would be something I'd like even more.. ;-)
