i noticed with surprise that boinc benchmarks on my laptop (Centrino 1.5 GHz, 512 RAM) differ so much under Windows and Linux.

Windows results:
Measured floating point speed: 1299.43 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed: 2696.01 million ops/sec

Linux results:
Measured floating point speed: 793.22 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed: 1519.96 million ops/sec

Then, are Windows executables more optimized than Linux ones, or what??

ok, now Linux performances are:

Measured floating point speed 1571.64 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 3753.31 million ops/sec

more than two times faster!!
