Does anybody know wheather the text-client or the screensaver (in black modus)is faster?

I wouldn't bother using the screen saver, it used a lot of my CPU up, so it's taking it away from BOINC. If I was you, leave it off for max speed.

i test this out

4 Minutes Difference on an P4 3.0 with HT, and a Radeon 8500.

but if you have an old S3 Vision 968 like me on my Server it is better to turn the Sreenserver out.

Since the CLI and the GUI use the same code, it doesn't really matter which you use. They are both equally fast. I don't see a difference, at least. ;)

Measured floating point speed 40489.8 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 40796.81 million ops/sec

with my tests, i compared a WU without Graphics, and a WU with Graphics,

only 4 Minutes different, because they use Open GL as Screensaver

so only the GPU was used.
