A small story about Nvidia drivers, msi drivers, Seti and Norton Ghost. All of you should know the words: "Don't change a running system!" But, who cares :) I spotted a new Bios version for my mainboard. I downloaded it, deinstalled all nvidia drivers (for mainboard and graphic card and flashed my mainboard succesfully (me so lucky!). But,.. I couldn't make Windows to boot :/ Not in safe mode, not in normal mode.. no way! Unfortunaly Berkeley fixed their Servers and I was able to download WUs for 4-5 days - that means 25+ WUs - before this happens. O_o What to do now? In my mind I tried to find words to say sorry to Berkeley and the other Seti users who would have negative experience if I would not send anything back... Then I would have been ashamed and would have left Seti community. My mind ran across every possibility and I am sure the lord heared my prayer! So, here is what I did: I made an A-image of system partition including boinc folder with Symantec Norton Ghost. Then I recovered a ghost B-image that I created before I made driver changes - Now Windows was back! To get back boinc seti WUs I browsed the A-image and extracted boinc folder with the 25+ WUs back to installation folder. All recovered, all running, thank God it is Thuesday :P Laters! Moabiter During browsing berkeley's homepage I came along this statement that makes me say: "ME!, ME!, ME!, wants to know, what patch was used and is it available for windows?" |

. . . you deserve my congratulations. Well, I was going to say our congratulations, but I didn't feel I could speak for others. |
