Guys, this new software is for the birds. I lost all of my history (20-30K work units), the web site doesn't give any information anymore, on and on. If you decide to resurect the "good stuff," please let me know and I'll start processing again. Until then, I guess we both lose... |

Seriously, we tried to do everything to make the switchover smooth - even for people who forget (which is a human thing to do): You can transfer the account if: - the email address at classic is still active - the email isn't active but you have a new one and still have the password for classic - you accidentally created another account and know the ID of the right account + seti classic password Which information is it that you are lacking from the website? |

Slam, your account does refer your Classic work units. If you have a lot more now, those will be updated on your BOINC home.php page when the final update is done, i.e. when Classic will be shutdown. (but I have to confess that I'm not too happy about the plans to shutdown Classic either) |

I tried this SETI-Boinc for a few months on 3 of my computers. When I started getting 1 half to 1 third of the credit my computers requested I switched them back to Classic. All 12 of my computers will stay on Classic till it is shut down then NO MORE SETI for me. It's been fun for 5 years now and my 35,400 work units or 35.317 years CPU time will be the end of it or where it actually ends. Dave Wilson Yes I think Boinc is Bunk |

Seriously, we tried to do everything to make the switchover smooth - even for people who forget (which is a human thing to do): Hi, It's only my opinion, but we miss the good old stats per country, per team, per class (date of first subscription),... Philippe |

Philippe, these stats your after are available from other sites such as BOINCstats and others mentioned http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_stats.php This seems to be the answer for all the troubles with Boinc -- go to someone else to get info, go find optimized clients from the many potentially untrustworthy sites or something else that works. Well we had one that works and that was SETI Classic too bad it will be over soon. |

I think the task distribution here at Boinc works fine: The project teams does the science, the application coding, and they deliver the raw data for the statistics. They even include some rudimentary statistics on the site as well. The eager community delivers all kind of statistics, banners, competition, gadgets...you name it, it's probably already there. I remember when everyone started their own stats page for Boinc and it was because there were no stats from SETI. So here we go and off load all the work to the community and everyone has something different. Nothing like trying to make it confusing for any new user. With Boinc the only thing consistent is that there is no consistency. All the defenders of Boinc are fighting a loosing battle. Workarounds do not make it better. |

So here we go and off load all the work to the community and everyone has something different. Nothing like trying to make it confusing for any new user. So which of the current active projects should provide the stats? It's not a workaround, it's the only viable solution, unless you're only interested in one particular project. I'm only minor interested about my standings within one project, Boinc as a whole is the interesting part. Perhaps the Seti people will do some of their own after the shutdown of Classic, but I'm personally not that much interested. And I'm not aware of any running Boinc project that's not working with the off-site stats and xml/wap. Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |
