I've never crunched Classic, but what I gather from diverse postings here, it was necessary to DL several add-ons to ahve a cache, it was impossible to run even 2 different projects on the same puter without manual maintanance, and the whole thing was a command-line program withoout a GUI.

That's not what I call simple. It's simple in a putistic, nerd kind of thinking, but for me, as a plain user, a simple GUI, a nice installer, an easy to handle cache manager is just what I would ask for. And it's what I got.

As I started with 4.13 some 8 month ago, it was easy to install, intuitive to customize, and worked fine all of the time. Some projects had some problems, but Boinc itself didn't (at least for me).

So what's not easy to use with Boinc?
I really don't have any idea besides that it's different from Classic, and some don't want any change to happen (BTW, do you still drive your Model T? That was easy, simple...)

Well Seti can Kiss Me and alot of others Good Bye! United Devices will be Glad to have My Deadcated Computer Time! And they don't use Stupid Software that is a Waste of time to Figure Out! This Software Simple to Use! I mean One Click on and One Click Off! And United Devices treat their Help alot Better! They Update all their helpers on how the Project is Going! I think Cancer Research is alot more Inportant than SETI Don't You!

Well, that's one of the great things about BOINC. You can run multiple projects from a single GUI. Some of them have goals similar to cancer research.

Seriously, could you post what exactly it is you are having trouble with running BOINC? I'm sure we could help you with whatever it is. Yes, BOINC is quite a bit different than S@H classic. But is it much more difficult? Not at all...

As well as the command-line .exe, there was a screensaver version. But serious users avoided the screensaver as it added several hours to computation.

But yes, most people seem to forget that without the third party add-ons available, classic wasn't much.
