I have been a very faithful SETI participant for many years now and it seems that all my “classic” credits (9318 as of today) will be lost because I don’t know my “classic” password and the email I used for my “classic” account has not been valid for at least 3 years. Does opening a new account mean that I start from zero? I am becoming disenfranchised. Osteoboy

Everybody starts BOINC from zero. Your classic credits can be "transfered" over to BOINC if your classic and BOINC accounts are linked, but classic credits only get noted here as classic credits, they don't count for anything here in BOINC.

See here for an example of somebody with both classic and BOINC credits.

For BOINC
Total credit - 155,523.49
Recent average credit - 1,044.56

And for classic
SETI@home classic workunits as of 15 March 2005 - 1,745
SETI@home classic CPU time as of 15 March 2005 - 12,130 hours

Help and BOINC documentation is available here.

After putting several years effort into SETI, our work is to count for nothing with the "Improvement" of BOINC. I went over to BOINC but I do not like it. I shall continue to process on Classic until it is killed off, then - reluctantly "GOODBYE SETI".

I'm not sure what you mean by saying that your 'work is to count for nothing'.

Of course your work counts, you have the credit to prove it here (the remainder of your credit will be transferred when Classic eventually closes).

Seti@BOINC just works differently (and deliberately so).

Sometimes I think we are alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we are not. In either case the idea is quite staggering.
