I use a dial up connection to the inetnet and have my computer preference set to home and the preference "Confirm before connecting to internet" set to yes, but it seems that boinc ignores this setting. Anyone have any comments or fixes for this?

Use the 'disable BOINC network access' menu item when you are not connected. As far as I know this is the only way for BOINC to coexist peacefully with an intermittant connection type at this time.
