Probably another typo in their switch to another server. Not Thursday the 26th but Wednesday the 25th. ;) |

Or, something bad happened not related to the move ... Right -- I will add one or two projects to my working list once Seti classic is shut down. I still have a batch of computers reporting units to it. One thing I like there is the lack of report deadlines -- something not really possible with BOINC due to the need to validate. |

...One thing I like there is the lack of report deadlines -- something not really possible with BOINC due to the need to validate. Look over to CPDN. They have a deadline of ~ 1 year. Their wu's take a lot time to crunch but they 'trickle' from time to time, so you get credits step by step. Aloha, Uli |

Taken from Pirates@Home Messageboard: For those of the crew who are also cranking for Einstein@Home (and ye all should be), you may have noticed that the site is not responding. The server crashed due to a hardware problem, and they are trying to swap in some new hardware even as I am typing. There was a planned down time tomorrow to move the hardware to a new cabinet. I do not yet know if they will take the opportunity to make the move now that the project is down. Eric Myers EDIT: And this is from Einstein homepage: The Einstein server went down some time around 12:40 Wednesday morning. We are currently analyzing the situation and will provide more information as the situation is being handled. Hope they will fix it soon <img border="0" src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=64&trans=off" /> |

i think they have more than one Server, from the Old News Feb 1, 2005 We have started using a mirrored download server at the Albert Einstein Institute (AEI) in Golm bei Potsdam, near Berlin, Germany. Hosts whose timezone offset from UTC is closer to UWM (UTC-7 hours) will continue to get data and executables from UWM. Those hosts whose offset from UTC is closer to the AEI (UTC+1 hour) will get data and executables from AEI. This should give faster and more reliable downloads for everyone. Note that if a download fails from the first server, the alternate will also be tried. Please report any problems or strange behavior to the message boards. and March 14, 2005 A data download mirror is now being hosted by the PSU LSC group. Einstein@Home users in the US Eastern Time Zone will now try to get data from this mirror first. dont know why all Servers are down... They have 1 main server for uploads and scheduling. They have 4 download servers so that you can download from the closest mirror whenever you download work. If the scheduler server (einstein.phys.uwm.edu) crashes then the whole project goes down. |

It also appears that whatever is wrong on the Einstein site is severe enough that they are remaining offline for a full day or more. It ought to be interesting when they finally get back online. Wonder how they are going to handle all those WU's that had a closeout date during the time they were out of communication ... ???? |
