instead of complaining of no work, why dont you set your queue to several days (7-10) and then you will not have to worry about the 30 minutes or so when there is no work when you need it!! ttyl Jeff |

My preferences are set to 3-10 days. My queue reached the low-water mark NINETEEN hours ago. For the first 1.5 hours, every download attempt failed with messages like this: - Temporarily failed download of - Giving up on download of : file was not found on server - Unrecoverable error for result (file transfer error: couldn't get input files: : file was not found on server) For the next 17.5 hours, it just said "No work available". This machine has had ZERO workunits (nothing to work on AT ALL) for over 8 hours. That's hardly the "30 minutes" you claim. I wouldn't have posted something after a SHORT outage. This one has lasted over 19 hours. |

And while I was composing that message, it finally downloaded a couple of units to work on. Nowhere near the "10 days" worth that it should have requested (it actually asked for 1692960 seconds: almost 20 days; it inflates the request after each failure), but at least it got a little bit of work. |

Smugly laughing about the answer, for setting a minimum of 7 and max of 10 days is not how it works. I just wish people wouldn't set a big ass cache anyway, the way they were used to in SAH1. When will it be that people understand that SAH2 cannot be compared in any way to SAH1, but for in the actual workunits they are crunching? ---------------------- Jordâ„¢ |

A little bit patient can not harm. You should have been participating in the Beta Test phase. If I remember it correctly, we had no work at a certain moment for 4 days. Greetings from Belgium. |

> I just wish people wouldn't set a big ass cache anyway, ... I left my cache set at the original 0.1 - 2 days, but with the new "false" completion times on the units, it would never have downloaded ANYTHING on my slower system. I find that with 3-10 days, I complete all units 4-5 days before the deadline, AND I can ride out the SHORTER outages. This one caught me at the low-end of the cycle. If I ever exceed the deadline, I'll be sure to lower the preferences accordingly. |
